Homemade Brought to High Point

A popular ice cream franchise reopened its doors in High Point, N.C. this week but with a new look and owner. Bruster’s Real Ice Cream, which had a location here years ago but closed in 2016 due to low numbers and turnout rate, is hoping that this new location will give them a second chance. The new space, located at 1130 Eastchester Dr. in High Point, will also feature a brand-new drive-through, and extended patio to allow for a more welcoming space for all. The shop's refreshed layout was intentionally designed to encourage people to stay longer, socialize and enjoy their ice cream in a comfortable setting, something the previous location lacked.

“My dad owns the bursters, and he has been wanting to do a franchise for a long time and bursters was the perfect fit. There used to be one in High Point years ago and we figured why not bring it back.”  said Zane Emerson, Manager at Bruster's.

The reopening has already generated buzz through the community with many residents remembering the original shop and expressing hope that this fresh start will bring renewed energy and constant crowds.

Around the country Bruster's has 200 locations, 150 hand-crafted flavors and has been in business for 36 years. The company is known for its small batch production style, according to its website. This allows them to make Ice Cream fresh Daily this approach has helped Bruster’s build a loyal following nationwide with many traveling out of their way for a taste.

Community members and students are excited for this addition.

“I have a Brusters at home and it is my go-to... They have the best ice cream,” said Kylie Perraut, a junior from Maryland.

Other students echoed Perrauts message noting the convent location and wide range of flavor choices. For many out-of-state students, the shop brings a sense of home and familiarity, making the reopening meaningful.

The team at Bruster's has been working hard the last few weeks to get trained on all the flavors and ingredients so that they are ready for the opening day. Emerson said he and his dad traveled to Pennsylvania for nine days to shadow a store owner there and be familiar with the company and its brand. This training experience, Emerson said, allowed them to gain confidence in running the store and to better understand what makes successful bursters locations thrive.

The community is excited for the reopening.

, Ajaya Hobart, a High Point resident, said this is a much-needed addition to our community, “coming from Maryland. I am so excited to have Bruster’s here in High Point. Their ice cream is the best, but the staff is always the nicest”.

Bruster's is open seven days a week, from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m., and they are located at . The location is conveniently found a short distance from HPU. They offer walk up counter service or a full-service drive-through.
